For purposes of this study, a fifteen year bibliographical period was chosen as representing the period of recency immediately preceding the commencement of this study.
Nine main areas of investigation were set up and defined as follows:
I. Pedagogy—general and specific information concerning the teach­ing of singing and voice culture.
II. Breathing—the activation and control of the respiratory organs
in singing.
III.  Phonation—the inception of vibratory activity in the glottis to
produce voice.
IV.  Resonance—an accessory vibratory factor that operates to amplify
and enrich the voice.
